Meet Brandon

Background

I grew up in Fair Oaks and have an in-depth knowledge and connection to the local community.  My early work experience was with the Sunrise Recreation & Park District in Citrus Heights as a lifeguard, swim instructor and manager, which taught me the core values of our Community.

Prior to joining the SMUD Board in 2016, I served as an elected Board Member of the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District for more than 8 years, including 2 years as Chair, in 2010 and 2015. In 2011, I was elected as the Special District Representative to the Sacramento County Treasury Oversight Committee and proudly chaired the Committee from 2014 to 2019.

In addition, I am a current member of the Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) Special District Advisory Committee. I also volunteer for the Environmental Council of Sacramento, an advocacy coalition nonprofit, and am a Past President.

I first became interested in SMUD while a student at U.C. Davis researching SMUD's Upper American River Project, which is a network of hydroelectric dams that runs along Hwy 50 through the Sierra Nevada.  Out of university, I worked at the California Energy Commission's Renewable Energy Office with a focus on solar and wind power.

Today, I work on the cutting edge of vehicle electrification and grid-integration policy using my renewable energy background.
